Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Rehabilitation Physical Therapist to provide objective assessments and comprehensive, individualized treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients under the supervision of Therapy Leadership. You will supervise rehabilitation technicians and PT assistants, in line with State Practice Acts, and contribute to Mercy’s mission and service standards.

The role requires a PT degree (BS/MS/DPT), current/temporary licensure in state of practice, and a valid BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master of Science in Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
• Current/Temporary license to practice Physical Therapy in state of practice.
• BLS certification required; certifications must be current before caring for patients independently.
• Six months to one year of rehabilitation experience preferred, with adult and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform objective assessments and develop comprehensive treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients.
• Direct supervision of rehabilitation technicians and supervision of PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts.
• Collaborate with Therapy Leadership and adhere to Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Education: Bachelor, Master of Science in Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

Licensure: Current/Temporary license of Physical Therapy in state of practice.

Experience: Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently. Other: Preferred Education: Preferred Licensure: Preferred Experience: Six months to one year experience is preferred for Rehabilitation Physical Therapist. Prefer experience with care for adult and geriatric patients. Preferred Certifications: Preferred Other:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream.

In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes.

In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
