Job summary

Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC) seeks a compassionate Physical Therapist to help older adults restore function, manage pain, and improve mobility, enabling engagement in daily moments that matter most.

You will develop individualized plans of care, provide evidence-based treatment, monitor responses, and collaborate with physicians, nursing, and families to coordinate care while documenting progress and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition when therapy ends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
• Current, unrestricted Texas Physical Therapy license.
• 2–3 years of experience in skilled nursing or senior living preferred.
• Experience with orthopedic rehab, wound care, pain management is a plus.
• Strong clinical judgment, time-management, and communication skills.
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary partners.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents’ mobility, strength, balance, motor function, sensory perception, functional capacity, and overall therapy needs.
• Develop individualized plans of care with meaningful, measurable short- and long-term goals.
• Provide evidence-based treatment using therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, functional activities, and appropriate equipment.
• Monitor each resident’s response to treatment and adjust interventions to achieve the greatest possible benefit.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation team members, residents, families, and caregivers to coordinate care.
• Recommend supportive, orthotic, or prosthetic devices and provide education on safe use when appropriate.
• Document evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge recommendations accurately and on time.
• Create a thoughtful transition plan that supports continued success after therapy services end.
