Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established care plan.

• Follow all state laws governing physical therapy in home care. Adhere strictly to the treatment plan set by the supervising PT. Perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend changes to the plan of care as needed.
• Instruct and assist patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, activities of daily living (ADL), transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician. Coordinate care with healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within the scope of practice of the PTA.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
