Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to implement therapy programs and provide treatments under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. The role focuses on helping residents gain independence and improve functioning.

Responsibilities include carrying out the treatment plan, assisting the PT during evaluations, organizing sessions, educating residents and caregivers, and maintaining documentation according to facility guidelines.

• Collaborates with the rehab team to tailor programs to each resident.
• Maintains accurate resident documentation of treatments and progress.
• Attends care and team meetings as a PT representative.
• Cleans, maintains and reports equipment repairs as needed.
• Ensures high-quality, compassionate service respecting residents’ needs and rights.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
2. 2 Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
3. 3 Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
4. 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
5. 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
6. 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
9. 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
2. Licensed as required by the State.
