Job summary

Northern Cardinal Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a PRN Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team of skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers in Virginia. You will provide physical therapy treatments to promote independence under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, while enjoying a positive work environment and competitive pay.

The role emphasizes teamwork with the rehabilitation staff and direct instruction to patients and families to carry out therapy

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the APTA.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure in the state of practice.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.
• Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs for each patient.
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations and complex procedures.
• Instructs patients, families and caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Implements patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist

• Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient

• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations and complex procedures

• Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)

• Must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice

• Requires good organizational and time management skills

• Requires good verbal and written communication skills
