Job summary

Mercy is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support licensed Physical Therapists in delivering patient-centered care. The role emphasizes documenting patient progress, adhering to the supervising plan, and ensuring safety and dignity in care.

You will assist with treatments, modify procedures as needed under supervision, and coordinate workload within the PT department while addressing age-specific needs and pain management policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
• Current state license or holding a state-authorized temporary permit/license, where applicable.
• Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in providing physical therapy services.
• Document patient progress notes as directed.
• Modify specific treatment procedures within the established plan if patient status changes.
• Provide technical assistance and direction to the Physical Therapy Aide and coordinate department workload.
• Address age-specific needs and treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Assess and treat patient pain per the department's pain management policy.
• Identify and report patient safety issues when identified.

The Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Physical Therapist in the provision of physical therapy. The incumbent shall perform physical therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant may modify a specific treatment procedure in accordance with changes in patient status within the scope of the Physical Therapist's established treatment plan. The incumbent documents patient progress notes. The incumbent shall safety and effectively provide physical therapy procedures as directed by their supervising Physical Therapist. The incumbent shall address appropriately the age-specific needs for all patients. The incumbent will treat patients and families with respect and dignity. Patients pain will be assessed and treated according to the departments pain management policy. It is the philosophy of Mercy Hospital to optimize patients' comfort while they are in the hospital. The incumbent will identify and report any patient safety issue when identified. The Physical Therapist Assistant shall provide technical assistance and direction to the Physical Therapy aide and coordinates the workload in the department as directed.

Position Details:

Education: Associate's degree.

Licensure: Currently licensed in the state of practice or holding a state-authorized temporary permit/license, where applicable.

Experience: Physical Therapist Assistant may be entry-level.
Certifications: Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Certification.
