Job summary

Advocate Health in High Point, North Carolina, is seeking a qualified Physical Therapy Assistant for our Acute Care Rehabilitation department. The successful candidate will support treatment plans, assist with patient training, and help collect outcome measures in both clinical and research contexts.

The role requires an active North Carolina PTA license, a two-year college program approved by the APTA, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Current NC license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Carry out physical therapy programs as directed by the PT in clinical and research settings.

• Maintain supplies and equipment and assist with research protocols and materials.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, and in-service trainings.

What You’ll Need

• Successful completion of two year college program for Physical Therapy Assistants approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Current license in the State of North Carolina to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association

What You’ll Do

• Carries out physical therapy programs as planned and directed by the physical therapist in clinical and research applications. This involves training patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Collects clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and assessments, and health related quality of life information.
• Performs a wide range of tests and evaluations in a clinical or research setting. This involves evaluation of developmental levels and functions, gross and fine motor skills, neurological-reflex testing, equilibrium, coordination, protective responses, muscle strength, muscle tone, joint range of motion, daily living skills and activities, and perceptual motor skills and defects. Screens for orthopedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Assists with research protocol and treatment development; ensures quality control of data. Develops and writes educational materials.
• Participates in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
