University Physical Therapy in Salem, VA is seeking a motivated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our orthopedics and sports medicine team. You will support licensed clinicians, deliver evidence-based treatment, and help patients regain strength and return to activities they love.

Qualifications

• PTA degree from an accredited program.
• Active Virginia PTA license.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through therapeutic exercise and hands-on interventions to restore function.
• Educate patients on injury prevention, home exercise programs, and long-term wellness.
• Monitor progress and communicate updates with the supervising PT.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with regulations.
• Continually develop clinical skills with evidence-based ortho/sports rehab practices.

Job Description

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you'll partner closely with our Physical Therapists to help patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence after injury or surgery. You'll play an important role in helping patients achieve their goals and return to the activities they enjoy most.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Deliver evidence-based treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercise programs and hands-on interventions to improve function, mobility, and strength
• Educate patients on injury prevention, recovery strategies, home exercise programs, and long-term wellness
• Monitor patient progress and communicate updates with the supervising Physical Therapist
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Continue developing your clinical skills while staying current with evidence-based orthopedic and sports rehabilitation practices

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (or equivalent)
• Active Virginia Physical Therapist Assistant license
• Outpatient orthopedic or sports medicine experience preferred
• New graduates with a passion for orthopedic rehabilitation are encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive, patient-centered approach to care
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
