Job summary

Old Dominion Rehabilitation and Nursing seeks a Physical Therapist Assistant to join our resident-centered care team in Newport News, Virginia. Under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, you will provide physical therapy treatments to increase patient independence and functional ability.

You will collaborate with rehab colleagues, implement treatment plans, educate patients and caregivers, and help maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PTA program as required by state licensure.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of practice.
• Requires good organizational and time management skills.
• Requires good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.
• Works with rehabilitation team to implement programs aligned with patient needs and capabilities.
• Acts as assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations and complex procedures.
• Instructs patients, families and caregivers in PT treatment techniques under supervision.

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist
• Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations and complex procedures
• Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist

Qualifications:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice
• Requires good organizational and time management skills
• Requires good verbal and written communication skills
