Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to support patient care within our multidisciplinary team. You will administer modalities, educate patients and caregivers, and coordinate with Physical Therapists to optimize treatment outcomes.

The role requires Florida PTA licensure, CPR certification, and 1–2 years of relevant experience, with emphasis on documentation and adherence to plan of care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Current Florida State PTA License.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriately administers modalities and utilizes equipment as deemed necessary based on each specific guideline.
  • Discusses with the Physical Therapist the need for assistive devices, DME/adaptive equipment and ensures all equipment is recommended, received and measured to fit each patient.
  • Fits, trains and educates patient/caregiver in the use of assistive device, DME, and adaptive equipment.
  • Discusses with the Physical Therapist the patient’s progress, goals and plan of care and adjusts treatment approach based on patient’s reaction to it and re-assesses outcome.
  • Completes Outcome Measure scores (FIM) for admission, goal setting and discharge within departmental policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Provides written instructions, training and education to patients/family members/caregivers in a timely manner, as evidenced by documentation.
  • Follows patient schedule on time and communicates any deviations.
  • Gives at least one in-service annually to staff.
