Job summary

Navicent Health Medical Center in Georgia is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant for a full-time inpatient rehabilitation role. The candidate will implement PT programs, assist with patient training, and participate in data collection for research and quality improvement.

Required is a two-year PTA program (APTA-approved) and an active PTA license in the applicable state; CPR certification every two years is also required. Prior pediatric/adult experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a two-year PTA program approved by the APTA.
  • One year of PTA experience preferred.
  • Current license to practice as PTA in the applicable state; CPR every two years.

Responsibilities

  • Execute physical therapy programs as planned by the PT, guiding exercises, ambulation and ADLs.
  • Collect clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and HRQoL data.
  • Perform tests and evaluations of development, motor skills, reflexes and coordination.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with research protocols and data quality; help develop educational materials.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.

Job Description
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of two-year college program for Physical Therapy Assistants approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). One year of previous experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

Current license in the State of applicable state to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant. CPR certification every two years.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Carries out physical therapy programs as planned and directed by the physical therapist in clinical and research applications. This involves training patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
  • Collects clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and assessments, and health related quality of life information.
  • Performs a wide range of tests and evaluations in a clinical or research setting. This involves evaluation of developmental levels and functions, gross and fine motor skills, neurological-reflex testing, equilibrium, coordination, protective responses, muscle strength, muscle tone, joint range of motion, daily living skills and activities, and perceptual motor skills and defects. Screens for orthopaedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with research protocol and treatment development; ensures quality control of data. Develops and writes educational materials.
  • Participates in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
