Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, adhere to the treatment plan as defined by the supervising PT, perform only procedures you are qualified for, and recommend changes to the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and assist patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician. Coordinate care with healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within your scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in your state.
• CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or access to public transit.
