Job summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant administers physical therapy treatments under the direction of the Physical Therapist, delivering hands-on care designed to improve function and comfort for patients.

You will review medical records for orders, help develop and adjust care plans, document progress, assist with discharge instructions and home programs, and participate in meetings to ensure safe, compliant, and effective therapy.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in Florida.
• BLS certification required.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
• Adheres to policies regarding patient rights.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment; identifies and reports hazards.

Responsibilities

• Administers physical therapy treatment per plan of care.
• Reviews patient medical records for physician orders and changes.
• Develops individual patient therapy plans with the therapist.
• Updates and adjusts treatment plan with therapist based on patient needs.
• Confers with the Physical Therapist and other professionals for planning and coordination.
• Assists in preparing patients for discharge with home exercise program.
• Maintains accurate daily billing charges and productivity logs.
• Documents progress notes, discharge notes, and educational materials.
• Attends staff meetings and in-services.

Position Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant administers physical therapy treatments to patients working under the direction of, and as an assistant to the Physical Therapist.Job Responsibilities:Assessment and Plan of Care/TreatmentReviews patient’s medical record for physician orders and/or change in patient statusRegularly works with the therapist in developing individual patient therapy plans. Administers physical therapy treatment to the patients as defined by the plan of care established by the Physical TherapistUpdates and adjusts treatment plan, as appropriate, in conjunction with the Physical Therapist, based on patient/family needs, goals, strengths, age, abilities, and preferencesConfers with the Physical Therapist and/or other health care professionals to exchange and discuss patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programsAssists in preparing patient, guest, client, and resident safety for discharge, through instruction of patient and family/caregiver and written home exercise program as necessaryManages schedule to meet departmental productivity expectations using sound clinical and professional reasoningResponds to changes in work schedule as necessary continually using time between patients and assigned duties for departmental needsAttends staff meetings and in-servicesMaintains accurate daily billing charges and productivity logDocuments progress notes, case conference updates, appropriate scores, family/patient education, and all other forms in accordance with departmental policy and procedure.
