Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to provide therapy services in patients’ homes within the Gainesville, FL area. You’ll work under a PT, following an individualized plan of care and documenting patient progress.

The role emphasizes patient wellness, coordination with the care team, and adherence to confidential records while supporting continued treatment outside the clinic.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the state you are assigned to work in.
• Graduated from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by CAPTE.
• One year related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care.
• If less than one year of experience, approval from regional clinical leaders and mentoring/residency required.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician-approved plan of care.
• Observes, records and reports the patient’s response to treatment and any change in condition to the supervising PT and appropriate staff.
• Provides resources for future needs and promotes wellness and prevention.
• Includes documentation of supervisory activities in the patient’s medical record.
• Monitors and documents the patient’s response to physical therapy intervention.
• Participates in patient care conferences, in-services, chart audits and quality improvement activities.
• Maintains confidentiality of information relating to the therapist-client relationship.
• Makes recommendations for follow-up care in coordination with the admitting agency and other care providers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant, specific to the state you're assigned to work in.
• Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
• One year related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care to ensure that knowledge and skills are sufficient to safely provide physical therapy services to patients.
• If less than one year of experience, approval from regional clinical leaders is required as well as appropriate mentoring and/or participating in a residency program.
• Current CPR certification.
