Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital - Dallas Downtown (DeSoto) is a critical illness recovery hospital committed to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The PTA will contribute to compassionate, excellent treatment under supervision.

As a Physical Therapist Assistant you will implement the therapy plan of care, coordinate with staff, educate patients and families, and support a multidisciplinary team dedicated to

Qualifications

• Licensed PTA or eligible.
• BLS certification completed within 90 days of employment.
• Preferred: 1+ year of PTA experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of the therapy plan of care under supervision of a licensed PT.
• Delegate and direct supportive personnel to enhance patient care services.
• Communicate with supervising PT regarding patient needs, reassessment, and plan modifications.
• Educate patients, families, students, coworkers and self.
• Perform other professional duties within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of a licensed PT, assists with the implementation of the therapy plan of care.
• Responsible for delegation and direction of supportive personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services.
• Consistently communicates with supervising PT in regard to scheduled patients to ensure identification of need for assessment and reassessment of patients, modification of treatment plans and other interventions requiring therapist direction.
• Participates in education of patients, families, students, coworkers and self.
• Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practice.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred candidate has one or more years of experience.
