Job description

Position Highlights
  • Hours: 8-5pm, lunch 12-1pm, every 4th weekend and 1/2 holidays per year.
  • May be eligible for a $15,000 sign‑on bonus with a 3‑year commitment.
  • Student Loan Repayment: Avera will contribute up to $10,000, $167 per month, to help pay down your principal balance.

A Brief Overview

Responsible for the daily coordination and delivery of physical therapy services, implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups according to the principles and practices of physical therapy and established objectives of the department.

What you will do
  • Evaluate assigned patients, gathering data from patient records, interviews, observation, and team members.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for patients needing services.
  • Review the plan of care with the patient.
  • Instruct the patient, family, and caregivers in home programs or exercises as appropriate.
  • Use selected activities and/or tasks to promote health, achieve treatment goals, and modify intervention strategies based on ongoing evaluation.
  • Provide direct therapy services within various functional settings and strategies, planning therapy within the patient’s individual physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities.
  • Prepare documentation such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant reports.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient, family, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members regarding status, progress, and needs.
  • Attend care conferences when applicable.
  • Establish rapport and work cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members throughout the intervention program.
  • Enhance professional growth through educational programs, current literature, in‑service meetings, workshops, and other learning opportunities.
  • Oversee physical therapy assistants, techs, and students to ensure safe patient care and smooth departmental operation.
  • Maintain knowledge of proper use of patient‑care equipment.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • Physical Therapist: An active license in the state of practice upon hire.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • Licensed physical therapist.
