Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking an outpatient float physical therapist to support our PT teams across Close to Home locations. You will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and educate families to promote optimal development and independence.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Physical Therapy, Ohio licensure, CPR certification, and pediatric clinical experience; you will supervise students and collaborate with staff while maintaining caseload

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy and Ohio licensure.
• CPR certification required within 60 days post hire or expiration.
• Pediatric clinical experience preferred (1 year).

Overview

This is an outpatient float physical therapist opportunity, to help support our PT teams across all of our Close to Home locations in the greater Columbus area.

Job Description Summary

Evaluates patients for physical therapy due to injury or disease and administers treatment. Fabricates or recommends adaptive equipment and splints, documents evaluation results or patient progress, and provides patient and family education.

Essential Functions

Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations. Identifies patient's strengths and deficits, establishes goals, and develops an individualized treatment plan. Develops and administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence. Utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet each patient’s specific needs and achieve therapy goals. Observes and modifies treatment plan accordingly. Fabricates, recommends, or provides adaptive equipment, splints, or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility. Fits patient and instructs on use of item. Educates on treatment goals and therapy plans, instructs on therapeutic activities to follow at home, and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. Documents as appropriate and in compliance with requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation. Attends continuing education programs and participates in departmental in-service training programs to enhance professional development including participation in EBP. Conducts Physical Therapy educational programs for hospital staff, students, and community. Delegates to students from accredited programs, licensed physical therapist assistants, and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided.

Education Requirement

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, required.

Licensure Requirement

State of Ohio Licensure in Physical Therapy, required.

Certifications

CPR certification no later than 60 days post hire or post expiration, required.

Experience

One year of physical therapy work experience in a pediatric setting or clinical affiliation in area of pediatrics, preferred.
