Hamiltonhospital seeks a licensed Physical Therapist to administer physical therapy treatments under physician supervision. You will evaluate patient conditions, develop treatment plans, and assist with discharge planning while documenting progress.

Responsibilities include applying physical agents and therapeutic exercises, maintaining equipment, and upholding confidentiality and aseptic safety standards in daily patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor Degree program in Physical Therapy.
• Texas Physical Therapy license.
• One year experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist preferred.
• CPR training.

Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Administers physical agents utilized in physical medicine and rehabilitation as prescribed by a physician.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a physician, performs physical therapy treatments on patients.
• Reviews the diagnosis of patients, evaluates the patient’s condition, establishes a plan of treatment and performs discharge planning and evaluation.
• Instructs and prepares the patient for the treatment.
• Applies the appropriate physical agents, therapeutic exercises and ambulatory procedures and informs the patient of the treatment process.
• Records patient treatments on charts and provides information to the supervisor, director and physicians.
• Assesses and interprets data on neonate and the pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients’ status to identify patients’ requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
• Assists in the maintenance of physical therapy equipment.
• Performs minor maintenance and periodic and preventative maintenance on equipment as directed.
• Cleans and properly stores equipment after use.

Other significant requirements

• Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
• Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
• Interacts with Medical Staff members on a continuous basis.
• Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handing potentially infections materials.
• Follows safety guidelines and policies for the Healthcare System.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelor Degree program in Physical Therapy.
• Personal job-related skills: Knowledge of physical therapy equipment. Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Licensure, registry or certification: Texas Physical Therapy license
• Experience:
  • One year experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist preferred.
• Technical Training: CPR training.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of walking and standing. Repeated bending, stooping and reaching. Pushing and pulling up to 300 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds. Lifting up to 50 pounds and heavier lifting in transferring or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
