Job summary

Dignity Health - Methodist Hospital’s outpatient rehabilitation department seeks a dedicated Physical Therapist to assist pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in rebuilding or maintaining mobility and quality of life. You will perform initial evaluations, develop personalized plans of care, and deliver diverse therapeutic treatments.

You will work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team, ensuring thorough documentation, patient-centered care, and adherence to department protocols.

Qualifications

• California Physical Therapist license is required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association is required.
• Preferred: previous experience as a Physical Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient evaluations within 24 - 48 hours according to department protocol and set goals.
• Implement effective treatment plans and modify goals while ensuring patient safety.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education using appropriate teaching methods.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation reflecting interventions and assessments.
• Communicate treatment plans and patient status with the interdisciplinary team and physicians; participate in team conferences as needed.
• Ensure compliance with department policies for timecards, productivity logs, and billing.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physical Therapist, you will help pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients rebuild or maintain their physical well-being so they can function at their best level, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life.

Every day you will perform initial evaluations, develop and update individualized plans of care, and provide a variety of direct therapeutic treatments. You will be expected to consistently meet patient care productivity standards, collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and families, and promote a positive customer service environment.

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong age-appropriate competency skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care that ensures effective documentation and compliance with department protocol.

• Implement effective and adequate treatment plans, modifying goals and interventions as appropriate while ensuring patient safety.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education, utilizing various teaching methods suitable for their level of understanding.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, adhering to department policies for concise, legible records that reflect all interventions and assessments.
• Communicate treatment plans and patient status promptly with the interdisciplinary team and medical doctors, participating in team conferences as needed.
• Ensure compliance with department policies for timecards, productivity logs, billing, and other departmental functions.

Job Requirements

Required

• California Physical Therapist license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.

Preferred

• Previous experience as a Physical Therapist.
