About The Team
At The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh, we provide personalized, family‑centered children’s physical therapy for infants through young adults. Our physical therapists have specialized expertise and training related to the impact that growth and development have on treating physical injuries, orthopedic conditions, and medical complexities. We know how to help kids get back to being kids.
About The Position
The Physical Therapist (PT) assists patients in reaching their maximum functional potential through comprehensive assessment and intervention services. Infant, pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients are served. The PT participates in interdisciplinary treatment programs, collaborates and consults with others to facilitate therapy delivery, administers necessary procedures, and participates in training activities for family members and other professionals.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluates patients’ functional abilities and disabilities, identifies impairments using objective tests, measures, or standardized assessment tools.
- Identifies measurable functional goals and develops a treatment plan in collaboration with the patient/family.
- Implements the treatment plan of care and adjusts goals and interventions as needed.
- Uses objective data to assess the patient’s frequency and duration of care to optimize therapy benefit, considering clinical and financial factors.
- Prepares for discharge during treatment and initiates discharge when indicated.
- Assesses need for assistive technology appropriate for patient and family.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a PA license, Master’s Degree with a PA license, or DPT with a PA license.
- One year of experience with a pediatric population.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be able to move children and equipment weighing 10–50 pounds.
- Must be able to transition from sitting to standing, kneeling, and squatting.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs, occasionally carrying equipment.
- Pediatric CPR/First Aid required.
- Act 33/34 clearances; FBI clearance.
