Physical Security Systems Specialist

The Physical Security Specialist performs engineering,configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of enterprise-gradephysical security systems and integrated network infrastructure.The specialist drives system upgrades, complex integrations,acceptance testing, and deployment activities across criticaloperational environments. Responsibilities include developingtechnical documentation, optimizing system processes, and providingengineering-level design input for new project initiatives.Additionally, the position serves as an escalation point for diagnosing advanced technical issues to ensure system reliability,compliance with security standards, and alignment with university'srisk-management objectives.This position may be filled at either the Physical Security SystemsSpecialist I or Physical Security Systems Specialist II level.Placement will be based on the candidate's education, experience,certifications, demonstrated skills, and business needs oroperational needs.

Responsibilities

Physical Security Specialist I

The Physical Security Specialist I Perform the configuration andmaintenance of physical security system components under closesupervision, focusing on developing foundational skills in accesscontrol, intrusion detection, device configuration, and basictroubleshooting. Assist with routine tasks such as badge creation,access updates, and system checks while following establishedprocedures, documenting work, and escalating issues appropriately.Perform assigned work with a basic skill set and growingproficiency. For use by Central Function only.

Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree. Assumes work equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience).

Physical Security Systems Specialist, II

Perform configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting ofphysical security system components under moderate supervision.Conduct preventive maintenance, perform system diagnostics, programand commission newly installed devices, and support fieldactivities. Complete routine administrative tasks such as badgecreation, access modifications, and system health checks.Demonstrate increasing independence, diagnose controllercommunication issues, assist with system updates, and support smallscale system deployments and projects. Requires the followingcertifications, SWH CCURE 9000 System Manager Certification andLevel 1 AC9001 CCURE 9000 Installer Maintainer Certification.

Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Assumeswork equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for1 year of directly related work experience).

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).
