Job description

Physical Security Systems Lead

$110,000 - $135,000/yearly

JLL empowers you to shape a brighter way.

Our people at JLL are shaping the future of real estate for a better world by combining world class services, advisory and technology for our clients. We are committed to hiring the best, most talented people and empowering them to thrive, grow meaningful careers and to find a place where they belong. Whether you’ve got deep experience in commercial real estate, skilled trades or technology, or you’re looking to apply your relevant experience to a new industry, join our team as we help shape a brighter way forward.

What this job involves:

JLL's Global Security Technical Security team is a dynamic group of security professionals dedicated to protecting our client and corporate environments through cutting-edge physical security technologies. The team owns the full lifecycle — design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration — of integrated security systems spanning access control, intrusion detection, alarm monitoring, and video surveillance.

We operate at the intersection of physical and logical security, partnering closely with Global Security, Global Real Estate, client teams, and JLL's Global Technology organization.

As Physical Security Technology Lead, you will lead day-to-day operations of physical access control across client and corporate environments, reporting directly to the Global Owner for Access Control. You will manage a high-performing team responsible for internal customer service, security badge management, field-device support, and operational standards — while representing your regional teams in the design and testing of custom system enhancements.

You will own critical platforms including Physical Identity Access Management (PIAM), Key & Asset Management, Visitor Management Systems, and mobile badge adoption — ensuring JLL and its clients remain at the leading edge of physical security technology. The team operates within an Agile/CI/CD software development framework, delivering continuous improvements to features and functionality.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Lead as a hands‑on manager — balancing direct execution with smart delegation to drive team performance
  • Manage intake and workload distribution across the team to ensure efficient, consistent service delivery
  • Proactively identify and elevate operational issues before they impact the business
  • Act as a thought leader — driving problem‑solving, identifying business solutions, and influencing roadmap direction
  • Own and continuously improve operational standards and procedures; ensure team adherence through training and communication
  • Define software enhancement specifications based on operational experience; perform UAT for new releases
  • Oversee security badge printing, mail distribution, and onsite distribution programs
  • Serve as escalation point for cardholder inquiries via email and phone, ensuring timely resolution
  • Triage field issues and manage technical service calls with vendors and integration partners
  • Represent the team in audit and compliance inquiries; maintain accurate documentation of standards and controls
  • Maintain and advance physical security systems including PIAM, PACS, VMS, Key & Asset Management, and mobile badge platforms
  • Perform first line maintenance on physical security systems and hardware
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and years of professional experience in physical security technology systems
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in physical security technology, including at least 2 years in a leadership or team coordination role managing access control, video surveillance, or integrated security platforms
  • Demonstrated expertise with Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) and enterprise-level platforms such as Lenel OnGuard, Software House C CURE, Genetec Security Center, or equivalent systems, including hands‑on configuration and administration
  • Proven track record managing security badge lifecycle operations, including credential provisioning, visitor management systems, key/asset tracking platforms, and mobile access technologies
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and vendor management skills, with experience coordinating field service, diagnosing system issues, and serving as technical liaison between internal stakeholders and integration partners
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional security certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or vendor-specific certifications (Lenel, Genetec, Gallagher, HID, etc.)
  • Experience working within Agile/CI/CD software development environments, including participation in sprint planning, user acceptance testing (UAT), writing technical specifications, and contributing to product roadmap discussions
  • Hands‑on experience with Physical Identity Access Management (PIAM) platforms such as iDL, IMS, or similar identity lifecycle management solutions that bridge HR systems and physical security infrastructure
  • Knowledge of security compliance frameworks and audit processes, including experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or corporate security policy audits with strong documentation and control evidence practices
  • Familiarity with integrated security ecosystems that connect access control with video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection, alarm monitoring platforms, and building management systems (BMS) in complex, multi‑site corporate or client environments
