Brooksource is seeking a Physical Security Systems Field Specialist in Charlotte, NC, to support a large-scale security infrastructure initiative. This field-based role involves travel to project sites (50–75%), coordinating with vendors and internal teams to install, configure, test, and maintain access control and video surveillance systems.

The ideal candidate has hands-on PACS and VMS experience, knowledge of Avigilon or similar platforms, and the ability to manage multiple field activities

Physical Security Systems Field Specialist

Location: Charlotte, NC (Field-Based, 50–75% Travel)

Pay Rate: $38–$43/hour W2, depending on experience

Employment Type: 12-Month Contract with Potential for Extension or Hire

About the Role

Brooksource is seeking a Physical Security Systems Field Specialist to support a large-scale physical security infrastructure initiative with one of our leading utility clients in Charlotte, NC.

In this role, you will serve as an onsite technical liaison, working closely with installation vendors, contractors, and internal project teams to support the deployment, configuration, testing, and maintenance of physical security systems across multiple facilities. You will help oversee security system installations, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure that access control and video surveillance equipment is properly installed and operating as intended.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), Video Management Systems (VMS), and commercial security equipment, along with the ability to coordinate field activities and communicate effectively with vendors and stakeholders. Experience with Avigilon or similar video security platforms is highly desirable.

This is a field-based position requiring approximately 50–75% travel to project sites. The home office is located at 9550 Research Drive in Charlotte, near UNC Charlotte. Candidates must be comfortable working in active jobsite environments, following established safety procedures, and using their personal vehicle for business travel, with mileage reimbursement provided.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate with third-party vendors, installation contractors, and internal project teams to oversee physical security system installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities across multiple facilities.
• Program, configure, and support Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), including card readers, access points, monitoring inputs, outputs, and related security components.
• Support the configuration, testing, and operation of Video Management Systems (VMS), including IP cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), and video analytics.
• Troubleshoot access control and video surveillance equipment, identifying technical issues and collaborating with appropriate teams to resolve system malfunctions.
• Perform field testing, commissioning, and system validation to ensure security components are functioning properly following installation.
• Monitor installation progress, communicate project updates, and coordinate with stakeholders to address technical challenges, scheduling concerns, and project requirements.
• Travel to field locations, follow applicable jobsite safety protocols, and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).

What You Bring

• Professional experience with commercial or industrial physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and electronic security integration.
• Hands-on experience programming, configuring, or troubleshooting Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), including readers, controllers, and monitoring components.
• Experience with Video Management Systems (VMS), IP cameras, NVRs, and related security technology. Experience with Avigilon is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience supporting security system installations, integration, commissioning, or field service activities.
• Ability to coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders while managing multiple field activities and project priorities.
• Strong technical troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in field environments.
• Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and willingness to travel approximately 50–75% of the time, with mileage reimbursement provided.
