Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Physical Security Specialist opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position Summary
The Physical Security Specialist will manage and continuously improve the enterprise-wide physical security programs. This role will be responsible for the management and execution of a Physical Security program. They will play a key role in ensuring compliance with DOE and NNSA regulatory frameworks, while protecting national security interests across highly sensitive nuclear enrichment operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Execute the Physical Security Program.
- Lead Physical Security program implementation, including intrusion detection systems, barriers, PACS, security postings, and facility access controls.
- Interpret DOE order requirements and incorporate them into site security plans, procedures, and policies.
- Conduct annual testing of security systems, self-assessments, false/nuisance alarm trending, and tamper-indicating device (TID) program management.
- Provide oversight and supervision of Lock & Key and Insider Threat program personnel
- Manage and provide oversight of the Insider Threat Program.
- Support daily operations including facility opening/closing and off-hours alarm response.
- Write and certify security plans, conduct walkdowns, approve shipping plans, and certify/decertify security areas.
- Conduct reviews, assessments, and updates to manuals, SOPs, and training materials.
- Provide OPSEC support, perform OPSEC reviews, and develop Security Awareness materials and presentations.
- Manage or supervise multidisciplinary security teams across locations, ensuring DOE compliance and delivery of contractual requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in U.S. Government security programs (DOE and/or DOD, etc.).
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field or commensurate experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing/implementing Physical Security programs.
- Experience directly supporting DOE/NNSA missions and working with national laboratories or defense contractors.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior government and industry stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to report to an assigned work location. This is not a remote work opportunity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of DOE O 472.2A, SEAD requirements, and federal adjudicative guidelines.
- Proven ability to collaborate with federal customers, senior leadership, and cross‑functional security teams.
- Ability to develop and maintain standard operating procedures and quality assurance programs.
- Participated in security working groups and professional forums.
- Provided security guidance and consultation to management and staff.

- DOE Physical Security processes
- IOSC Inquiry Official
- Derivative Classifier and UCNI Reviewing Official
- Reviewing classified reproduction, destruction equipment, and storage areas
- CMPC and IOSC programs, including training development, briefings, trending analysis, and compliance reviews.
- Security awareness and training programs
- Supporting Survey and Self-assessment programs
