Job summary

EXPANSIA Group at Fort Eustis, VA seeks a Physical Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support aviation missions within the Mission Systems Division. You will apply advanced M&S methods to assess technologies, survivability, and mission effectiveness in Army aviation contexts.

The role involves integrating AFSIM and related tools with operational analysis, technology development, and warfighter needs, across classified and unclassified environments. Strong analytical communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline as listed.
• Skilled in C# and C++.
• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or government analytical efforts.
• Demonstrated Modeling & Simulation experience with AFSIM.
• Experience with mission effectiveness and survivability analysis.
• Ability to plan and execute analytical studies and communicate results clearly.
• Familiarity with classified and unclassified DoD environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Government in identifying and addressing capability gaps by evaluating new operational concepts enabled by aviation technologies.
• Conduct operational task analysis and collaborate with Government engineers, analysts, and developers to allocate technologies to mission capabilities and identify shortfalls.
• Support development, integration, and execution of modeling and simulation environments for manned–unmanned teaming, survivability, and mission effectiveness analysis.
• Assist in scenario design, scripting, and test vignette development to exercise advanced autonomy and threat interactions.
• Provide engineering support for software integration testing and model verification within live, virtual, and constructive simulation frameworks.
• Conduct mission-level survivability and effectiveness assessments using government-provided M&S tools to evaluate threats and countermeasures.
• Support post-simulation data analysis and report generation documenting findings, limitations, and recommendations.
• Assist with risk assessments and substantiation documentation supporting test readiness and simulation credibility.
• Plan and execute Modeling & Simulation studies and other analytical efforts for survivability and mission effectiveness assessments.
• Support model credibility, verification, validation, and configuration control activities with VCBs and government-directed tools.
• Perform M&S and analytical evaluations, analyze resulting data, and author clear reports for government users, warfighters, and developers.
• Conduct survivability and mission effectiveness analysis using tools like AFSIM, MACE, ATCOM, SAINT, ECHO, BlueMax, DREAM, HIVE, VBMS.
