Job summary

EG&R Engineering PC, a fast-growing electrical engineering firm in Somerset, NJ, seeks a Physical Layout Designer with Substation/Power experience to join a multidisciplinary team.

You will generate electrical layout drawings for high voltage substations and power plants, coordinate with electrical engineers and design drafters, and prepare detailed plans, schedules, and BOMs continuing client standards.

Qualifications

• Strong teamwork and communication skills are required to collaborate with electrical engineers and drafters.
• Ability to clearly convey design concepts and engineering requirements in written form.
• Experience working in power substations or plants is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical layout drawings for high voltage substations and power plants.
• Prepare General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Conduit/Cable Schedules, Electrical Details, BOM.
• Produce Conduit / Raceway Plans, Cable Tray, Underground Ductbank layouts and lighting, grounding, power details.

EG&R Engineering PC is a fast-growing multi-disciplinary engineering firm located in Somerset, NJ. EG&R provides electrical engineering and contracting services for a variety of markets including government, utilities/power, waste to energy companies, transit agencies, manufacturing industries, pharmaceuticals, A-E firms/Architects, and various types of commercial clients.

EG&R Engineering is seeking a Physical Layout Designer with Substation / Power experience to serve as an integral part of a talented team.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities include working with a team of Electrical Engineers and Design drafters to generate Electrical layout drawings for High Voltage Substations and / or Power Plants.

Responsibilities will include preparing the following drawings for substation or power plant facilities:

• General Arrangement
• Electrical Equipment Plans
• Conduit/Cable Schedules
• Electrical Details – Section views and elevations
• Bill of Material
• Conduit / Raceway Plans / Cable Tray/ Underground Ductbank
• Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc
• Perform facility / substation walkdowns
• Following client’s standards

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States. We do not provide Visa Sponsorship.
• Previous work experience as Physical Designer in the Power Industry (substations / power plants)
• Experience in 3D Modeling Plant 3D and/or Revit
• Experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• The applicant must have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to be part of a project team
