Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a enthusiastic, student-centered Physical & Health Education Teacher for a short-term, full-time, co-teaching role. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging PE and health lessons, promote fitness, teamwork, and healthy habits, and create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in PE/Health, Michigan teaching certification, and experience teaching PE/health to school-aged

• Appropriate Michigan teaching certification and endorsements preferred.
• Experience teaching physical education and/or health to school-aged children.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt instruction to support a range of student abilities and needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging physical education and health lessons across assigned grade levels.
• Promote physical fitness, coordination, movement skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Teach age-appropriate health concepts supporting student well-being.
• Adapt instruction to meet diverse abilities and learning styles.
• Establish clear expectations for participation, safety, behavior, and equipment use.
• Create a positive learning environment encouraging effort, perseverance, collaboration and growth.
• Supervise students and maintain a safe gymnasium and learning spaces.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support student learning and initiatives.
• Uphold the school's mission, values, and commitment to educating the whole child.
