Role Description/Criteria
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Catholic Parish Primary School (SMCM) in Epping North is a vibrant, faith-filled community that values diversity and student-centered learning. St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Primary School is seeking a passionate and skilled Physical Education teacher to join our school and current PE team. The successful applicant will deliver a physical education program that is skills-based, promotes inclusivity, maximises participation and allows for personal growth.
The Physical Education Teacher will:
- Plan and implement a sequenced and comprehensive PE and Health program in line with the Victorian Curriculum
- Work collaboratively with other school PE teachers to align PE programs, whole school approaches and use of facilities and resources
- Modify and adjust instructions, skills, rules and scoring systems to promote fair play, safety and participation for all.
- Assist staff as needed with weekly sport sessions.
- Educate students in the correct use and care of resources.
- Organise, coordinate and lead sporting events such as interschool sports, gala days, district events etc.
- Apply for, utilise and acquit grant funding and budgets if required.
- Promote Physical Education, Sport and Health within the school community through the school newsletter and engagement with local sporting/dance clubs.
Requirements:
- VIT registration
- Accreditation to teach in Catholic School and/or committed to providing a Catholic education for all students
- Committed to upholding the SMCM Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct
- Dedicated to catering for the individual needs of students in a school wide positive behaviour for learning environment
- Committed to building authentic relationships with all staff, children and families
- Willing to work collaboratively with others in a flexible learning environment
- Proven communication, organisational and time management skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a spirit of collegiality within a team
- Demonstrate ability to reflect on one’s own practise and commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth in the areas of physical education
- Commitment to our Catholic Tradition and Community & Family Engagement.
This is a full-time, fixed-term leave replacement position for the 2027 school year, with the possibility of an ongoing position in 2028. While the position is advertised as full-time, part-time arrangements may be considered for the right applicant.
