Telecommuting Eligibility: School-based. Not eligible for telecommuting.

In accordance with the Agreement between the Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.

Position Summary

The Teacher offers a rigorous curriculum aligned with the State of Michigan Common Core guidelines while upholding the mission, vision, and values of the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Collaborates with families and staff to ensure student success. Evaluates and monitors student progress periodically.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Temporary Teaching Authorization (T2EA), Physical Education (MB), (MX) endorsement(s).

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community members.
• Enable field studies to enhance curriculum based on student needs.
• Participate in professional development and conferences.
• Develop parent and family involvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with colleagues on school activities for student success.
• Discuss student progress with parents.
• Instruct classroom rules and discipline policies.
• Counsel students on academic and adjustment issues.
• Manage attendance, reports, and grade records.
• Design study programs tailored to students’ needs and abilities.
• Assess and evaluate students’ progress periodically.
• Instruct students on proper use of equipment and textbooks.
• Maintain inventory and student records.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
