Job summary

Coastal Harbor Health System in Savannah, GA is seeking a PHP Therapist to conduct psychotherapy services, interview patients, develop psychological histories, assess therapeutic needs, and set treatment objectives with the treatment team. The therapist serves as the primary contact for patients and families during admission, coordinating discharge planning with the team and outside agencies.

Education required is a Master’s in social work or mental health counseling; GA license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or mental health counseling required
  • 1-2 years experience in behavioral health setting preferred
  • GA license preferred (LMSW/LCSW/LMFT/LAPC or LPC)

Responsibilities

  • Conducts general psychotherapy group sessions for patients daily.
  • Establishes rapport, gathers data, and assesses readiness for treatment and change.
  • Completes psychosocial assessments as assigned.
  • Reacts therapeutically in crisis situations.
  • Keeps family informed of goals, plans, and progress.
  • Coordinates discharge planning with treatment team and family.
  • Maintains a full caseload as census allows.

Coastal Harbor Health System is comprised of a 145-bed hospital for children and adolescents, providing both short- and long-term inpatient care, and a 50-bed inpatient hospital serving men and women, ages 18 and up. The PHP Therapists are responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients, interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives, and treatment plan updates for patients. Therapists conduct family sessions prior to discharge. Therapists act as the patients’ and families’ primary contact during the patient’s stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team. Therapists are also liaisons with outside agencies and individuals for the purpose of developing and coordinating discharge planning with the treatment team and family.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Conducts general psychotherapy group sessions for patients daily. Demonstrates a high level of clinical skill in assessing the clinical needs of the patient, determining appropriate group intervention and in conducting the group in accordance with these needs.
  • Establishes rapport, systematically gathers data; determines the patient's readiness for treatment and change.
  • Completes psychosocial assessments as assigned.
  • Reacts therapeutically in crisis situations.
  • Consistently demonstrates an alert, sensitive and supportive attitude with patients, families and employees/management.
  • Responsible for keeping the family, parent or guardian informed of treatment goals and plans, as well as patient's progress.
  • Coordinates with the treatment team, family and patients and implements discharge planning.
  • Manitains a full caseload assigned based on the census.

Requirements
