Job summary

Cogent Communications in Orlando, FL, is seeking a Software Developer to design, develop, and maintain several in-house business applications across Sales, Operations, and Finance. You will gather requirements with stakeholders, build proofs-of-concept, and guide development through testing and deployment.

Under the technical lead, you will maintain existing PHP and Java applications, collaborate with developers, and ensure robust, scalable software solutions that support multiple departments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of PHP web development experience.
• 2+ years with the Laravel framework.
• 2+ years of full-time experience with MySQL and/or MSSQL.
• Proficiency with HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
• Experience in all phases of SDLC, OO analysis and design, and revision control systems.
• Ability to gather requirements from end-users and explain in plain English.
• Ability to structure a software project (UI / API / DB).
• Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
• At least 2 years of Computer Science college education or similar studies.
• Excellent customer service and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Capable of writing and presenting detailed documentation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze technology gaps, research, develop, and deploy software solutions.
• Define sprints and deliverables with project leads.
• Collaborate with other developers to design and optimize code.
• Perform integration, testing, bug fixes, and maintenance activities.
• Analyze requirements and prototype for engineering and design of corporate apps.
• Support applications in O&M status with enhancements and fixes.
• Code, test, and debug new software or enhancements.
• Develop user interfaces and applications with clear priorities throughout the life cycle.
• Integrate platforms leveraging APIs.
• Create technical documentation and user guides for developed software.
