Job summary

Intel 471 is seeking a senior PHP Engineer to maintain and modernize Atlas, our internal intelligence publishing tool. You will work across the Laravel PHP backend and the JavaScript frontend, keeping dependencies current and improving tests, observability and tooling.

This fully remote role spans Europe and reports to the Director of Engineering, with collaboration across platform/DevOps teams. You will help modernize Atlas on our cloud platform, document runbooks, and deliver reliable features

Qualifications

• Proven, hands-on experience building and maintaining production PHP systems.
• Strong Laravel framework expertise, including safe upgrades.
• Solid understanding of front-end fundamentals (JavaScript, CSS, HTML).
• A track record of safely evolving codebases rather than rewriting.
• Good debugging, incident response and root-cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of relational DBs and SQL; Git and CI/CD discipline.
• Ability to work autonomously with platform and DevOps support.

Responsibilities

• Work across the Atlas stack (PHP/Laravel back end and JS/CSS/HTML front end) to build and maintain features.
• Keep dependencies current; improve testing, observability and tooling.
• Triage production incidents and defects; extend CI/CD and deployment automation.
• Help modernize Atlas onto our cloud platform in coordination with platform/DevOps.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the role is fully remote and open to candidates across Europe on a B2B 12 month contract basis.Atlas is a mature application, and we're looking for a pragmatic engineer to help it evolve and to support its modernization onto our cloud platform. This is a hands-on role with real autonomy: you'll work on a system used across the company and help shape where it goes next.
