Job summary

Google is seeking a hardware engineer to design and integrate high-speed optical transceivers and photonic systems for our next generation hardware platforms. You will work on custom silicon and optical modules powering Google’s data centers and consumer devices, contributing from concept through high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with fiber optical components and packaging techniques.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design low-cost and high-speed optical transceivers for ICI communication links.
  • Architect optical systems to scale TPU superpods.
  • Identify, research, evaluate emerging photonic networking technologies.
  • Explore optical technologies to disaggregate and improve the efficiencies of future computing systems.

  • Knowledge of large volume high-speed optical transceiver designs and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of high speed design of electronics and optics.
