Job summary

Google’s Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team in Sunnyvale is seeking a hardware engineer to design and deliver high-speed optical transceivers and associated photonic systems for data centers. You will help scale TPU and GPU superpods and influence next-gen hardware power and efficiency.

The role emphasizes end-to-end responsibility from concept to high-volume manufacturing, working on in-house custom silicon and advanced transmission technologies for millions of users.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in a high-speed datacom environment.
  • 5 years of experience in digital coherent optical transmissions.

Responsibilities

  • Design low-cost and high-speed optical transceivers for data center applications.
  • Develop optical systems and architectures to scale TPU and GPU superpods.
  • Identify, research, evaluate emerging photonic networking technologies.
  • Explore optical technologies to disaggregate and improve efficiencies of future computing systems.

Job description

  • Knowledge of large volume high-speed optical transceiver designs and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of data center network and machine learning system architectures.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
