Job summary

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas seeks a Photographic Preservation & Digitization Specialist to support a major two-year initiative preserving, digitizing and expanding access to a historic photo-collection from the 1960s and 1970s. You will assess materials, implement preservation workflows and help ensure long-term digital access.

Reporting to the Head of Collections & Registration, you will work with curatorial teams, assist with cataloging and research, and maintain

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in photography, photographic preservation, conservation, museum studies, archives or a related field.
Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience with photographic collections.
Experience with high-resolution digitization, color management and quality control.
Familiarity with digital preservation, metadata and long-term asset management.

Responsibilities

Assess condition of negatives, slides, prints and related materials and rehouse as needed.
Develop preservation and rehousing strategies and perform high-resolution digitization.
Review and document previously digitized material and ensure metadata quality.
Coordinate with catalogers and preservation staff; support research and access workflows.
Track outputs for grant monitoring and ensure preservation of digital assets.
