Job summary

TelevisaUnivision in the United States seeks a full-time Photographer for our news team to capture compelling visuals for live and taped events, working closely with reporters and producers to tell important community stories.

You will shoot and edit daily stories, set up equipment for broadcasts, troubleshoot field issues, and help shape visuals through lighting, composition, and audio. A degree or equivalent experience is required, with bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience in Broadcast Communications.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in camera/editing; bilingual English/Spanish written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Avid Media Composer and I-news rundown.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to drive news vehicle daily.

Job description

TelevisaUnivision is seeking a dedicated, creative, and passionate full-time Photographer to join our news team. The Photographer will play an essential role in bringing stories to life by capturing compelling visuals for our news programming across live and taped events. As part of a fast-paced and collaborative team, you will work closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom partners to deliver high-quality visual storytelling. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for compelling images, can think quickly in a dynamic environment, and is passionate about covering the stories that matter most to our community. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Shoot and edit daily news stories, breaking news, special reports and stories as assigned with or without reporter using non-linear, computer-based editing equipment.
  • Set up, test, and operate equipment for live and recorded broadcasts, including LiveU and other mobile transmission technology.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in the field and communicate equipment or transmission concerns to the appropriate team.
  • Edit materials to match script prepared by reporter, producer or associate producer using on-location facilities or any other location required.
  • Work with reporters to get complete stories and makes suggestions on how a story should be produced.
  • Be able to drive, operate and handle all necessary equipment and/or other equipment used in live transmissions.
  • Keep assigned equipment and/or vehicle in good working condition and files all required paperwork, as deadlines require.
  • Be able to work various shifts and times as well as during inclement weather.
  • Might be required to upload video, digital pictures, and copy to the station’s website and social media.
  • Perform routine maintenance and light troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Assist with news production and assignment desk as assigned.
  • Follow all station and company safety policies and procedures, particularly when operating vehicles, working around live events, or covering hazardous weather and breaking news Use sound judgment and editorial awareness when covering sensitive, fast-moving, or high-profile news events.
  • Manage, organize, and archive video and other digital media according to newsroom and company standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU HAVE:
  • College Degree or equivalent work experience in Broadcast Communications.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in camera/editing Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of editing software’s such as Avid Media Composer.
  • Knowledge I-news rundown.
  • Valid Driver’s license with clean driving record, as driving a news vehicle daily to and from stories is an essential part of the daily routine.
  • Be able to lift heavy equipment up to 45 pounds, bend and set-up equipment for remotes to allow transmission of pictures or live from-the-scene reports back to the station.
  • Must be able to work outdoor and inclement weather conditions.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Strong visual storytelling, composition, lighting, and audio skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with newsroom systems, digital platforms, and emerging technology.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing assignments, priorities, and breaking news situations.
