Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Process Engineer for the Photo Team to establish and maintain world-class processes and improve yield with data-driven decisions. You will monitor wafer fabrication, qualify new tools, and coordinate qualifications and downtime, using tools like Spotfire, JMP, and MATLAB.

This role requires adaptability to 24x7 shifts in a cleanroom environment. The position offers exposure to advanced semiconductor manufacturing with a focus on CPS, SOP updates, and

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Computer Science (3.0 GPA or better for new grads).
  • Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
  • Understanding of statistical methods and Change Point Management.
  • Understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
  • Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc.).
  • Experience with Software Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.).
  • Ability to wear clean room suit and PPE, and ability to lift.
  • Vision: exposed to yellow lights, alarms; must discern audible alarms.
  • Possibility to work with hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the wafer fabrication process by responding to in-line issues and dispositions of production wafers.
  • Qualify wafer fabrication processes on new tools.
  • Coordinate scheduling of process qualifications and equipment downtime.
  • Use software to analyze data, identify trends to make processing decisions.
  • Make adjustments when process parameters are exceeded and monitor tools after maintenance.
  • Execute in-line changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.
  • Communicate technical information within the department through presentations.
  • Continuously revise SOPs.
  • Develop improved processes to increase capability.

Position Summary

The Photo Team at Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a process engineer interested in working alongside a talented team of professionals with a key focus on establishing and maintaining world class process/equipment and implementing yield enhancement as a competitive advantage along with ability to identify complex problems and implementing solutions.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's what you'll be responsible for:

  • Monitoring the wafer fabrication process by responding to in-line issues and dispositions of production wafers.
  • Qualifying wafer fabrication processes on new tools.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of process qualifications and equipment down time with manufacturing or equipment engineering.
  • Using software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product.
  • Making adjustments when process parameters are exceeded and monitors process parameters when tools return from maintenance.
  • Executing in line changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.
  • Communicating technical information within the department through presentations.
  • Continuously revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Developing improved processes to increase capability.
Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Computer Science (3.0 GPA or better for new grads).
  • Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
  • Understanding of statistical methods and Change Point Management.
  • Understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
  • Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc.)
  • Experience with Software Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.).
  • Ability to wear clean room suit and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ability to lift
  • Vision - May be exposed to yellow lights, blinking lights and ability to discern audible alarms.
  • Potential to work with materials which contain hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to support and/or work shift duties in a 24x7 manufacturing environment including nights and weekends.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $101,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
