Job summary

Wonderspring is seeking a PHLpreK Assistant Teacher at the New Market West Center in Philadelphia. The role supports the Lead Teacher in daily lesson plans, supervises children, and assists with the classroom schedule. CACFP participants will follow special serving procedures, and you will engage in ongoing staff development.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, CDA, and 2+ years of experience with children. A commitment to confidentiality and teamwork is essential.

PHLpreK Assistant Teacher

Location: Wonderspring – New Market West Center

Pay: $17.00 -19.10 per hour

About the Position

Wonderspring, a nonprofit early childhood education organization, is seeking a dedicated team member to support our PHLpreK Lead Teacher at our New Market West Center in a Preschool classroom.

About the Role

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, learning activities, and classroom routines.
• Supervise children in your care
• Assist with all tasks associated with the daily schedule
• Teachers in programs participating in CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) must follow additional serving and preparation procedures, including implementing family-style serving.
• Engage in Wonderspring staff meetings, attend in-services, external training programs, and actively participate in center events to foster professional development, collaboration, and a cohesive team environment
• Follow and adhere to the responsibilities outlined by the lead teacher for the classroom.
• Comply with the partnership requirements of PHLpreK.
• Develop a strong relationship with your School District team
• Observe, document, and celebrate each child’s progress, sharing their victories (big and small) with proud parents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA)
• 2+ years of experience working with children
• Strong teamwork and flexibility
• Ability to keep information private
• Basic knowledge of childcare rules
• Must obtain all required clearances and complete a Health Assessment with TB screening prior to employment.
