Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Phlebotomist under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor to ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, and handling. The role maintains a clean environment, supports patient comfort and safety, and educates patients during procedures.

The Phlebotomist will also use HIS and LIS for registration and test entry, assist with team training, and uphold PRIDE values and the AIDET model to deliver exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• Interprets provider test orders and follows approved SOPs for specimen collection.
• Maintains accurate labeling and handling of specimens.
• Operates HIS and LIS in patient registration and test entry.
• Demonstrates proficiency in HIS/LIS across job duties.
• Assists with training of team members and students.
• Delivers compassionate, patient-centered care and adheres to PRIDE values and AIDET model.
• Follows safety procedures and regulatory guidelines in the department.
• Operates and maintains technical equipment per SOPs.
• Manages inventory levels and expiry dates of supplies.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interprets provider test orders and follows SOPs for specimen collection.
• Accurately uses the HIS and LIS for patient registration and test order entry.
• Evaluates orders and collects specimens for acceptability and determines rejections according to guidelines.
• Accurately labels aliquot samples as required.
• Recognizes and corrects defects before passing to next step.
• Demonstrates knowledge of HIS and LIS in all job-related functions.
• Assists with training of team members and students.
• Models compassionate, patient-centered care, adhering to PRIDE values and the AIDET model.
• Operates and maintains all technical equipment according to SOPs.
• Maintains quantities and reviews expiration dates of all supplies.
