Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for patient identification, sample procurement and specimen labeling.
• Perform routine venipuncture specimen collections from patients.
• Prepare samples for testing including labeling, centrifugation, decanting and aliquoting.
• Educate patients on proper collection techniques.
• Maintain adequate supplies for phlebotomy and specimen procedures.
• Answer incoming calls for the laboratory service and relay information to the caller.
• Perform standard diagnostic tests such as bleeding time, occult blood, urinalysis, pregnancy test, and fingerstick glucose.
• Sterilize autoclave equipment and clean glassware.
• Identify adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
• Other related duties as assigned.
