Job summary

The Phlebotomist / Medical Technician will collect patient specimens, verify patient information, prepare specimens for testing, and maintain safe collection areas. Shifts may run 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, 3:30 PM-12:00 AM, or 11:30 PM-8:00 AM with rotating weekends and Federal holiday coverage in Memphis, Tennessee.

Requirements include experience with venipuncture, patient identification, specimen labeling, and order-of-draw procedures; infection-control practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience performing venipuncture, capillary punctures, and finger sticks.
• Knowledge of patient identification, specimen labeling, and order-of-draw procedures.
• Knowledge of infection-control and safe specimen-collection practices.
• ASCP-BOR certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and finger sticks based on patient and testing requirements.
• Verify patient identity, review laboratory orders, and accurately label specimens.
• Centrifuge, separate, store, and route specimens according to laboratory procedures.
• Maintain clean and stocked collection areas and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
