Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a phlebotomy technician to support patient care. You will perform phlebotomy, process specimens, and ensure proper accessioning and handling in a busy clinical lab.

The role requires a High School diploma (phlebotomy coursework preferred) and familiarity with data entry, Windows applications, and effective communication. Expect 3-12 hour shifts per week with rotating holidays and weekends to support patient care needs.

Qualifications

• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly to patients and staff.
• Knowledge of venipuncture procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assignments related to phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Resolves problems and supports departmental goals and objectives.
• Processes specimens and ensures accurate labeling and handling.
• Exhibits versatility and cooperation within the patient care team.
• Adapts communication to the patient population and requests permissions as needed.
