Job summary

Baptist Nassau is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant II on a PRN basis to perform phlebotomy in an outpatient setting and assist with anatomic pathology specimen processing. The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and organized work habits.

Responsibilities include handling specimens via pneumatic tube, distributing to lab areas, coordinating referral testing, and preparing transfer lists for transport while supporting outpatient phlebotomy operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience with specimen processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy duties in an outpatient laboratory setting.
• Assist the Medical Director with anatomic pathology specimen processing for bronchoscopies, EBUS, needle aspirates, and related procedures.
• Utilize computer systems for specimen processing.
• Retrieve specimens from the pneumatic tube system and process according to specimen type.
• Distribute specimens to different laboratory areas.
• Coordinate specimen pick-ups for referral testing.
• Prepare specimen transfer lists and package specimens for transport in accordance with laboratory policy.
• Support outpatient phlebotomy operations.
