Job summary

The Medical Technician position is located in the Nursing and Patient Care at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. This position will serve as a phlebotomist, specimen processor, and customer service support in the Laboratory Specimen Processing Section performing support duties for Atlanta VAMC wards and outpatient clinics.

To qualify, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of 08/24/2026. Time-In-Grade requirements apply to current Federal employees and veterans’ opportunities act

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
• Education substitution: a full 4-year bachelor’s degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects appropriate to the position.
• Combination of specialized experience and education may qualify at this level.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and related specimen collection.
• Process laboratory specimens and support testing workflows in the Laboratory Specimen Processing Section.
• Provide customer service support to wards and outpatient clinics at Atlanta VAMC.
