Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a current phlebotomy certification by the state of California
• Proof of certification required prior to in-processing and at each renewal
• Continuing education requirements must be maintained and documented annually
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in phlebotomy skills necessary to meet Government requirements
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
• Must comply with VA Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations governing staff conduct

Responsibilities

• Collect, transport, process, and evaluate specimens for testing
• Perform both routine and STAT specimen collection procedures
• Ensure proper specimen handling, including receiving and accessioning specimens
• Deliver specimens to appropriate lab sections and store per protocol
• Support laboratory functions including clinical chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis
