Responsible for answering incoming telephone requests for scheduling of home phlebotomy, house calls and requests for long term care facilities. Effectively utilizes communication skills in interpersonal interactions with customers, patients and families, physicians, fellow employees and leadership team members. Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry and specimen processing with general supervision Actively advocates Health Network Laboratories’ core values and provides excellent customer service.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Performs venipunctures. Collects other specimens and explains the proper collection procedures for specimens provided by the patient. Clarifies orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.* Makes accurate initial assessment of specimen suitability according to criteria outlined in the Laboratory Handbook and department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to include the proper processing, storage and transport of specimens.* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all registration, scheduling, dispatch and tracking software.* Answers incoming telephone requests/inquires for Home Phlebotomy, House Calls, and Long-Term Care Facilities and schedules mobile phlebotomy staff accordingly.* Utilizes effective communication skills in interpersonal interactions with customers, patients and families, physicians, co-workers and leadership team in a positive and professional manner.* Assists in the orientation/training of new staff members.* Provides on-call and mobile service as required.* Participates in the Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.* Properly records and documents necessary data on expense reimbursement (mileage reimbursement) data sheet or electronically utilizing scheduling/tracking software.* Provides factual, objective documentation to management pertaining to deviations from established policies and procedures.* Actively promotes HNL Lab Medicine’s values and exhibits excellent customer relations in anticipating customer needs in all interactions.# QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
