Job summary

Interpath Laboratory, Inc is seeking a friendly Phlebotomist/Processor in Washington to support patient care and lab operations. You will perform venipuncture, collect specimens, and handle data entry while delivering excellent customer service in a team-based environment.

The role offers a Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule, pay range $17.50–$23.70 per hour, and benefits including medical/dental/vision, a 401(k) with employer matching, paid time off, and in-house testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy MA-P certification required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring alarms.
• Perform venipuncture for blood collection and prepare samples for lab testing.
• Verify specimen information, data entry, and proper patient identification.
• Receive, process, and package specimens for referral labs while maintaining integrity.
• Follow safety, HIPAA, Medicare rules, and participate in quality assurance.
• Cover shifts at different sites to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality for team support.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For

• Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
• Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
• Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
• Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
• Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Education & Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification (MA-P) required.

Experience

• Previous on-the-job phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Physical Requirements

• Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
• High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
• Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
• Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

OSHA Category: This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
