  • Communicates with laboratory departments to maintain orderly workflow.
  • Follows hospital exposure control plans and HIPAA confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger stick, heal stick, and bleeding time) according to established procedure.
  • Identifies patients and properly labels specimen tubes.
  • Determines priority of STAT draws. Ensures timely transport of all patient specimens to lab for testing.
  • Helps co-workers when needed and communicates with laboratory departments when needed to ensure an orderly work flow.
  • Follows hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
  • Communicate with patients, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • One year of phlebotomy experience, preferred
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask.
  • PRN, as needed
