Job summary

Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform routine blood collection and related specimen procedures in a 414-bed acute care facility.

Under supervision, you will respond to hospital codes, assist with bedside testing per physician orders, and support clerical duties and outpatient processing to ensure accurate laboratory results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED, or highest level of education. Training and certification from National Committee for Lab Standards phlebotomy program preferred.
• ASCP certified as Phlebotomist desired, but not required. Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent required on hire.
• Must have the ability to read, write and learn a computer system. Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups. Must have good verbal communication and listening skills. Must have commitment to team operation with excellent customer service skills.

Responsible to perform routine blood drawing procedures including but not limited to proper collection of venous and capillary specimens. Respond to hospital codes as necessary as well as bedside testing per physician orders. This position also assists in clerical duties and processing of outpatients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED, or highest level of education. Training and certification from National Committee for Lab Standards phlebotomy program preferred.Previous experience preferred.
• ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologist) certified as Phlebotomist desired, but not required. Must be able to commute between facilities in a timely manner. Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent required on hire.
• Must have the ability to read, write and learn a computer system. Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups. Must have good verbal communication and listening skills. Must have commitment to team operation with excellent customer service skills.
