Job summary

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant to perform specimen collection, processing, registration, and clerical duties under supervision. The role supports timely testing and accurate documentation while adhering to procedures and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate has a vocational/technical degree with 1–3 years in a clinical lab environment and phlebotomy or related certification.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical Degree Preferred
• 1-3 years in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in specimen collection and venipuncture.
• Follows established procedures for patient identification and specimen collection-based test orders.
• Labels specimens and manages documentation for testing and referral processes.
• Operates laboratory information systems and performs clerical duties as requested.
• Ensures proper safety and privacy practices in handling specimens and data.
